This is a great initiative to benefit India. I am sure some of the kids will become TRIZ Master in 2010. Your work reflects the initiative of Nikolai Khemenko http://www.thinking-approach.org/. Altschuller started teaching TRIZ to kids 40 years back.

Congratulation! You have brought TRIZ to common people. Now you should plan for higher level of certification.

Hi,
I have recently became member of TRIZ India. I have gone through MATRIZ Certification training structure. It talks about classroom training and workshops. I am curious to know the schedule and venue for workshops or training. Right now I am stationed in Pune and would like to get certified for this course. Can you please let me know the further direction for undertaking this course.I have been a user of TRIZ since last 1.5 years and my ulitimate aim is to contribute as trainer for such workshops. I think I have gained enough confidence with evidences with my own TRIZ knowledge and practice.

Nice to receive your mail! I went through the article, but could not make out what contradiction you are talking about. The problem being from automotive domain, I didn't get too deep anyway.

Thank you Shree for offering to evaluate my understanding of TRIZ by assigning me the task of finding out technical contradiction in the specified article. It indeed is such a philanthropic offer that it may be nearly impossible for mere mortals like us to be given this opportunity to be evaluated by you. Although, I should not let this opportunity go, even in my wildest dreams, after a few moments of deliberation I have chosen to be excused by not appearing in this un-solicited examination.

Suffice it to say, TRIZ is not about being right or wrong, it is about exploring and ability to explore in multiple dimensions, - hope we can grow up from RIGHT or WRONG views of the world to exploring the world.

Good Luck for your examination of other's TRIZ knowledge!

Dear Shree,

I am thankful to you for introducing me to TRIZ (I was one of your course participant for the TRIZ workshop conductd at Delhi couple of years ago). For the last two years, I have been reading extensively about TRIZ and its case-studies written by several practioners/consultants. For me, some , if not most, of the illustrations published really do appear as retro-fitting the 'already invented' idea into TRIZ methodology (pardon me for being little cynical) for TRIZ sake. In my view, the most difficult exercise in TRIZ is IDENTIFYING "ONE MAJOR" CONTRADICTION (from highest level of abstraction) from several seemingly plausible contradiction scenarios. This contradiction should be apparent and intuitive for us to appreciate the beauty of TRIZ.

For example, in the case-study, the two contradictions arived at are:

Technical Contradiction 1:
If the fluid pressure increases to the maximum level, then the system requirement is met, but the top cap of the filter deflects, which causes the plasitol to leak at the grommet seal.

Technical Contradiction 2
If the fluid pressure does not reach the maximum level, then the top cap does not deflect and there is no leak in the filter; but the system requirement is not met.

In the above case-study pointed by you (based on my curosry reading of the problem), I would accept the first one as the “ONE MAJOR” contradiction that naturally surface in our mind soon after listening to the problem.

Technical Contradiction in the pressure cap: Pressure (Required, GOOD) x Deflection ( Undesired, BAD)

However, Contradiction 2 (is nothing but just an inverse of the above contradiction. If I were to solve the problem in a limited time period, I would start with Contradiction-I which is ‘naturally’ intuitive for anyone with basic grasp of TRIZ methodology. BTW, one is not expected to be a specialist—mechanical engineer—to apply TRIZ, so I am one such layman.

regards,
KG Krishna
